Kulen mountain’s Ravine 

Phnom Kulen National Park, located approximately 60 kilometers northeast of Siem Reap, is a site of profound historical and spiritual significance in Cambodia. 1. Phnom Kulen Waterfalls:

Description: The park features two main waterfalls. The first is about 4-5 meters high and 25 meters wide, while the second cascades from approximately 15-20 meters, creating a natural pool ideal for swimming. 

Recommended Visit Time: Late morning to early afternoon, when the temperature rises, making a dip in the cool waters especially refreshing.

2. Preah Ang Thom (Reclining Buddha):

Description: This 16th-century, 8-meter-long reclining Buddha statue is carved directly into a sandstone boulder and is a revered pilgrimage site for Cambodians.

Recommended Visit Time: Morning hours for a serene experience with fewer visitors.

3. River of a Thousand Lingas (Kbal Spean):

Description: The riverbed and banks are adorned with intricate carvings of lingas and other Hindu deities, symbolizing fertility and prosperity.

Recommended Visit Time: Mid-morning, allowing ample light to appreciate the submerged carvings.

4. Ancient Temples and Pagodas:

Description: Scattered throughout the park are remnants of ancient temples, including the ruins of the former capital city, Mahendraparvata, offering insights into early Khmer architecture and civilization.

Recommended Visit Time: Early afternoon, post-lunch, when the sites are less crowded.


Visiting Tips:

Entrance Fee: As of 2025, the entrance fee is $20 per person.

Operating Hours: The park is open daily from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

Transportation: The journey from Siem Reap takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours by car. Note that the access road is one-way: ascent is permitted before 11:00 AM, and descent after 11:00 AM. 

What to Bring: Comfortable walking shoes, swimwear, insect repellent, sunscreen, and sufficient water.

Guided Tours: Engaging a local guide can enhance your understanding of the site’s historical and cultural context.

7:00 AM: Depart from Siem Reap.

9:00 AM: Arrive at Phnom Kulen National Park; visit Preah Ang Thom.
