| Angkor wat Temple |
The Angkor Small Circuit is one of the most popular temple routes in the Angkor Archaeological Park, covering some of the most famous temples in the area. Here is a list of the main temples along the Small Circuit:
● Angkor Wat – The most famous and well-preserved temple, known for its stunning bas-reliefs and massive structure.
● Bayon Temple – Located in the center of Angkor Thom, it features 54 towers with massive stone faces.
● Baphoun – A three-tiered temple mountain dedicated to Shiva, recently restored.
● Phimeanakas – A small pyramid temple inside the Royal Palace enclosure.
● Terrace of the Elephants – A long terrace decorated with elephant carvings, used for royal ceremonies.
● Terrace of the Leper King – A smaller terrace with intricate carvings and a mysterious statue of the “Leper King.”
● Ta Keo – An unfinished temple mountain with steep staircases.
● Thommanon – A small but well-preserved Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva and Vishnu.
● Chau Say Tevoda – Located near Thommanon, it was built in the same style and period.
● Ta Prohm – A famous temple overgrown with giant tree roots, featured in the movie Tomb Raider.
● Banteay Kdei – A large Buddhist monastery with a similar style to Ta Prohm.
● Srah Srang – A large reservoir (baray) that was used for royal bathing.
This circuit is about 30 kilometers long from the city center and is usually completed in half a day to a full day by tuk tuk .
